About this property

Hosted by Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate

Tidesong Villa 152 at Benguela Cove Wine Estate, Hermanus

Perched within one of the Western Cape's most celebrated wine estates, Tidesong is a beautifully appointed luxury villa offering an immersive retreat where vineyard, lagoon, and mountain converge. Ideal as group accommodation for up to ten guests, this single-level five-bedroom residence combines the warmth of a private home with the polish of a boutique hotel - set against the extraordinary backdrop of the Walker Bay Nature Reserve and the Bot River Lagoon.

An Exceptional Setting

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate occupies a rare stretch of coastline near Hermanus, recognised internationally as one of the world's finest wine destinations. The estate sits within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve - a designation that speaks to the extraordinary ecological integrity of the surrounding fynbos landscape. Guests at Villa Tidesong are not simply booking Hermanus accommodation; they are stepping into a living, breathing natural heritage site, where every morning brings birdsong over the lagoon and every evening the mountains glow amber at dusk.

The Villa

Tidesong is a thoughtfully designed single-storey villa accommodating ten guests across five king-bedded en-suite rooms, each with the flexibility to convert to twin beds. The master suite features a full bath and shower, while all remaining bedrooms offer en-suite facilities. The villa is fully accessible throughout, with one disability-friendly bathroom, making it a genuinely inclusive space for groups of all compositions.

Inside, the attention to comfort is evident at every turn. Air conditioning runs throughout the villa, and an indoor fireplace creates an intimate atmosphere on cooler evenings; no small pleasure in the coastal hills above Hermanus. A full gourmet kitchen allows for self-catering in style, while a washer and drying line attend to practical needs discreetly. Smart TVs feature in all rooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi keeps guests connected should they wish to be.

The outdoor spaces are equally considered. A private swimming pool anchors the exterior living area, and the wood-fired hot tub (one of Tidesong's most beloved features) is perfect for unwinding beneath an expansive night sky after a day of wine tasting or lagoon adventures. The outdoor braai facilities invite long, leisurely evenings in true South African style. Inverter backup power ensures uninterrupted comfort throughout your stay, and daily housekeeping keeps the villa in pristine condition. A private chef and in-villa wine tastings are available on request for those who wish to elevate the experience further.

Estate Amenities

This holiday rental villa enjoys full access to Benguela Cove's extensive estate amenities. The Moody Lagoon Restaurant offers award-winning cuisine and cellar-door dining at its finest, complemented by a dedicated wine tasting room and working winery producing wines that have attracted international acclaim. The estate's 2.7-kilometre lagoon waterfront is exclusively accessible to guests, with the Lady Bonnie Pontoon Boat available for gentle exploration of the water.

Families are exceptionally well catered for, with a Splash Pad for younger guests, Pirate Adventure golf for all ages, and a weekly parkrun every Saturday morning. A 12-kilometre running and walking trail winds through the fynbos, and vineyard safari tours offer a behind-the-scenes look at the winemaking process. The estate operates under 24-hour security, and a car and driver service is available on request.

Water sports, Wellness & Activities

The natural saltwater lagoon, separated from the ocean by a sandbar, provides an exceptional setting for water sports. The estate's dedicated activities team can arrange water-skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, open-water swimming, kayaking, fishing, and birdwatching. Tennis and basketball courts, pétanque, and a range of walking and hiking options complete the active offering. Wellness sessions including yoga, meditation, and massage treatments are also available for those seeking restoration.

Beyond the estate, Hermanus itself needs little introduction. Renowned globally as one of the finest land-based whale-watching destinations in the world, the town draws visitors each year between June and November for extraordinary Southern Right Whale sightings along the cliff paths. The Old Harbour (a national monument and heritage site) the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, the Hemel-en-Aarde wine valley, and a vibrant array of restaurants, galleries, and artisan shops all lie within a short drive of the estate.

Villa Tidesong 152 is pet friendly, welcoming up to two dogs at a pet fee of R350 per dog - making it a wonderful choice for guests who prefer not to leave four-legged family members behind.
